Stanley Cup
The announcers said it was not a blind side hit. He came across the blue line with his head down. To me it was a late hit and that is it. Had he gotten up off the ice that would have been a 2 min penalty.
I'm not the one saying it was a blindside hit but actually a few commentators did say that. From TSN: :Vancouver Canucks defenceman Aaron Rome was scheduled to have a hearing with NHL disciplinarian Mike Murphy at 11am today. Rome caught Nathan Horton with a blindside hit in the first period of Game 3, and the Bruins forward was taken off the ice on a stretcher. On Tuesday, the Bruins announced Horton will miss the rest of the series with a severe concussion.:
Geez, he didn't even take a step towards him. Rome stopped up and stood him up. It was unfortunate for sure and you hate to see someone getting hurt like that but man they play a fast, rough game, AND it's the playoffs where you play for keeps. You gotta know you have to look up ANYTIME your crossing the blueline. Especially the way the Canucks play the line.
If the officials and the league keep this type of stuff up, they may as well take open ice hitting out of the game. Have any of you watched the Classic Games they put on tv? I was going through with drawl there a week back and watched a couple of games..., the game is totally different now. Back then there was no diving, you couldn't just dump the puck and skate around the defence, they took you out anyway. That is the hockey that I grew up watching and I miss that game.
Anyway I hope Horton recovers and is ok (just hope it takes a week or so ...,lol). I also hope that game was an eye opener for the Canucks..., this isn't going to be their season unless they get on their horses, pull up their panties and play some hockey. The last 10 minutes of that game was classless on both sides of the redline.
Go Canucks Go !!!

4 game suspension!
I don't know, while I don't agree with the suspension, I prefer the current game to clutching and grabbing to obstruct a player. They can still stop a player but they need to hit them; in yesterdays game I recall a situation like this exactly Raymond got stood up on the Boston blueline, the Boston player just hit Raymond straight up, it was a good play on the Boston players part, although not the way I wanted to see it unfold.

Really what a bunch of crap..., for 4 games Horton better not come back for the rest of the series! It was interference for god sake..., who ever heard of a game misconduct plus 4 games (remember that is 5 in all). At the VERY MOST I would have accepted 1 game, just to make a point but 4 games is outrageous.
Not to mention the Boston fans..., every time a player got 'touched' they were yelling for a penalty. I thought it was a hockey game ...,
- Sadly disappointed

What's Next NO CONTACT HOCKEY! 4 Games is RIDICULOUS !!!! Once you commit yourself to hit someone it's hard to change your plan; so he passed the puck hit was a bit late but the guy didn't look where he was going. If Horton held on to the puck just a bit longer he still would have been hit since he wasn't looking where he was going!
