Well ordered my retainers and clips from honda ap2 version. On back order till Febuary good thing car is parked for winter. 4 month back order is just wrong for parts. Well that my gripe for the day. John

Missed shifts for sure, but on the AP1 motor's, the stock retainers are different from the AP2 ones. Most people are having issues with them giving up around 80,000 miles. My car pretty much gave up right at 80,000 miles.

The retainers started to crack.
Once they crack all the way through, the vavle will fall into the motor and do a lot of damage.

Of the 16 retainers, 12 started to show cracking.

There has been some discussion on this issue, but nothing for certain yet. Still some people say this is due to a mis-shift causing an over rev.

How difficult is it to check for this, in relative difficulty to doing a valve adjustment?
