Default What would you pay for this AP1?

I've been thinking about getting an AP1 for a while, and I really only want to get one now if I find a good deal, since I've heard from some ppl that its better to wait till the fall since I could get a better deal then.

I checked out a 2000, grey with black leather, 120k, local car, Only 2 claims, one for the roof ($1700), and another for repainting the bumper ($1300). It's overall great condition, inside and out... only thing it needs is 2 new tires ASAP, and new brake pads. They're asking $15,500, and said they've already been offered $14,500. I was thinking of offering 15k even

Do you guys think this is a good deal?

All stock, no mod? With full service history?

The price is pretty good even during summer time, I suppose. If I were to offer on this, I would try closer to $14,500 (but higher of course to outbid) because you'll need new tires and brake pads.

Any pic so we can all play judge?

1700 for the roof is reasonable...but 1300 for JUST repainting the bumper?...doesn't seem right to me. Bring it to a shop to check it out, i took mine to Evo Garage and he therally checked out the car, everything he saw that needed to be fixed is now fixed, and now my car is running perfectly.

For 15,000, thats pretty good, just make sure you fully check out the car (go to mechanic)

I'm not 100% sure if it was a bumper repaint or replacement... If it was replacement, 1300 is reasonable, but a repaint shouldnt be that much..

It is all stock except for an intake, no need for pics.

Not sure about the service history, but I'm having my mechanic check it out prior to discussing the price, so if anythign wasnt looked after, he should be able to notice it...

Offer $13,000 leave your phone number with them. If they say it's too low, tell them you are looking for an s2000 with a clean title and that is what you are willing to pay for his car. I'm sorry but I find it unrealistic to pay 14,500 on a 00' s2000 with claims, 2 bald tires, and worn out pads.

When people say they've been offered a certain price it's usually B.S. , they want to give the potential buyer the impression that they don't need the money and they're not in a rush to sell.

hmmm... thx for the advice... I thought this was pretty good, since the 2 claims were so small.. a lot of the ones i've seen lately have had large claims... I think it might be hard to find an AP1 with 0 claims...

You are right about the impression he's trying to give... it probably is BS... but I havent seen an AP1 around for that price/condition..all the ones below 15k are always rebuilds..

Ya if the price he was offered was that close I am sure he would take in in these times. Remember he probably paid around 10 for it, if that.

well he was originally asking 17k with new tires/brakes, but he said he would let it go without having any work done, but has already turned down a 14,500 offer.

probably paid 10?

I think Dave is assuming this car is being sold by a dealer who would have paid as low as $10k on a trade-in deal or something... but sounds like you are looking at this car in a private sale.

Either way, I do agree with what woo laid down... makes lots of sense.

Good luck shopping for an S
