What kind of wings are you talking about, the oem ones for the newer s2000's or the really big carbon fiber ones that some people have? If your talking the carbon fiber ones it could be that all the ones that i've seen are not angled at all. I've seen more than a few cars with those CF wings and every one has been flat....someone please explain to me why!!! I've never understood this.

^^ The larger CF ones are the ones I am refering to, and that is a good point.

^ I agree that replacing the OEM trunk with a matching CF would be the way to go. Keep the OEM so you can sell the wing and trunk as a unit when you sell the car.

Those CF wings can be pretty nasty to tune properly. For example, at speed, too much rear downforce will make the car understeer in the turns as the front end of the car is not being pushed down as much as the back.

Also, too much wing angle at hgih speeds causes a lot of air resistence, affecting top speed. Too little wing angle, and low speeds you have little down force, but might be just right at racing speeds.

That is just the basics. Then you have to look at wing area, endplates, length and height of the wing.

Do the shorter mounted wings have as much problems? Not the OEM as they are very small but I am talking about an aftermarket CF that mounts about 6 inches off the trunk lid.

Also have to look at mounting position on the trunk.
mounted too far back mounts it at a negative downforce harder angle. more difficult to get it to be angled. I know mounted at the tip of the trunk only has a few mounting options that are indeed with downforce. the rest have your wing trying to fly the car.

LOL

Yes. 6 inch mounting brackets mean the wings are sitting 6 inches off of the trunk. If you look at the top of the car, take a straight line from there and that is the ideal place for the wing.

Think of downforce as positive air pressures, lift is negative air pressure aka vaccum. Down around the trunk area behind the rear window is a major negative air pressure area. As the car is moving, the air will flow over the car and dip down a little bit, but not by a lot. Hope this all makes sense.

Not sure what you are trying to say, but the wings are adjustable, so no way you would get lift unless you purposely angled the wing that way.

Understeer, ahh yes, that makes sense. But how fast are you really going at racing speeds? I'm kind of curious, how noticeable is the difference between using the cf wing vs. the oem one? After owning this car for 2 years I get the impression its not built as a high speed race car but more of a mid-range racer focused on handling and mechanical grip cuz you'll never go fast enough to make good use of aerodynamics. I drove a 2005 'vette a few weeks ago. At 400 horse and 400 ft/lbs, THAT is a high speed racer!!! (although I thought the handling was better on our cars).
It must be noted I've never taken my car to a track...yet.

Maybe you should consider a CR wing, it should be at the right angle, or a Mugen wing.
