Looking to sell
Family requirements are forcing me to sell...
Does anybody have any tips on where best to advertise my S2000? I've had it posted on Craig's list and Used Victoria for the summer, but no movement. I think it's time to pay for an ad... Autotrader?
I've had repeated calls from sales organizations promising to sell it for me (Vancouver and Los Vegas), are these scams?
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Painter

Did you have any offers? Any calls at all? Perhaps someone might have some tips if you showed the ad (or post in the vancouver for sale thread like DDonavan said. S2000's sell fast if the conditions are right but they tend to be ignored if buyers find anything remotely questionable. Being a performance car potential buyers are much more reluctant to let any little minor issues that might point to bigger issues due to abuse or lack of care.
Honesty is the key but there might be some ways to highlight the positive points to their maximum.
Autotrader might help since you will likely get more views from Vancouver (though there are quite a few more S2000s for sale there). You also might get more views from people up-island which could help as well. There is also buysell.com which is free though perhaps not quite as wide reaching.

I'd recommend posting a free online ad through Autotrader. I sold my Corvette earlier this month almost immediately after posting an ad there.
Word of warning, however: creating an online ad for that site is SUCH a hassle. I had to delete and re-post my ad several times because of various glitches in their system. And eventually the Autotrader techs thought I was a spammer.
Anyways, I ended up calling their helpline and having a customer service person post my ad for me.

Thanks for the tips.
I've had a few people by for test drives, one lowball offer, but nothing ever came of it. The car is clean with no problems. I just haven't been in a big enough hurry to get it sold. Another summer with it has been great, but it's time to get serious about selling.
It's a very stock, garage kept, 2003 with 49000 KM. Maintenance is all documented through the Vic Honda dealership... no accidents, new tires etc. The asking is $22,000 (reduced). Does that sound like the right price range?
As many of the S2000 enthusiasts are on this web site, I want to offer a commission of $500 to the person who brings me the end buyer, at the asking price. If there's anyone out there with a friend keen on an S2000, it's worth some cash!
What do you think of the idea?
PS. I'm going to post a local ad here on S2KI.
