Default 17" SSR Comps

Hello all. I just got my 02 S and was looking at the SSR comps...though I can't find answers to my questions doing the search feature...so here are my Q's...

What are the offsets for the 17's?

8" fronts and 9" rears...do I go with 215F and 245R or 225F and 255R? I've seen some with the 225/255 setup but isn't that a little bit too thick for 17s?

Is anyone with 17" Comps running with 215/245? Any pics?

BTW, I don't plan on lowering my car...but would like to start autocrossing with it.

Thanks for the help.

I got Kumho V700, 225/45-17 fronts & 255/40-17 rears. I have yet to receive the tires/wheels. I will update you when I do. I have a feeling that this will be a very competitive combination.

Believe the offsets are +48 front and +55 back.

i really want the SSR comps too in 17...after doing some research i found that the 17x8 is +47 and the 18x9 is +55...its not that bad...but if u lowered a lot u might have some fender rub...time to roll those fenders homie 2 b on the safe side

in result i once again leading towards the ce28n in 17...

18x9? You mean 17x9?

just curious, what made you lean towards the CE28N instead of SSR Comps?

IMHO the Tirerack SSR's have marginal offsets, while the Volk CE28N's have good ones. The standard size SSR-type C sizes on the Speedstar web site have acceptable offsets too, but smaller width rims.

Here are some numbers for you to decide for yourself:

'00 to '03 OEM: Front (16"x6.5", +55mm) Rear (16"x7.5", +65mm)
CE28N: Front (17"x7.5", +50mm) Rear (17"x9", +63mm)
Tirerack SSR Comp: Front (17"x8", +48mm) Rear (17"x9", +55mm)
Standard size SSR Comp: Front (17"x7.5", +48mm) Rear (17"x8.5", +55mm)

I ran out and measured the top of the OEM rim lip to the OUTSIDE of the fender and got 25mm on the front and 35mm on the back. If you do the calculations the Tirerack SSR rim lip goes right to the outside of the front fender and has 6mm space in the back. The Volks have 7mm front and 14mm behind. The tires are going to be wider than the rims, so you can see what's going to happen. DISCLAIMER, I didn't move the suspension up and down to check the camber curves, etc. to see if it will really fit.

I really want the Tirerack width SSR's, and they are a great price, but for the life of me I don't understand why they got such a low custom offset.

They're a great price. From your data, it seems that Tirerack's SSR Comps' offsets are too low for the wheel width. I see the problem with that, especially with aesthetics and fitment alone.
