Default 17's the same as 18's?

I am debating on getting some 17's and keeping it the same as stock 17x7 and 17x8.5.. if i where to get 18's instead what width would be similar to the stock 17's or does it matter?

what i am asking is 18x7 or 18x7.5 for fronts and 18x8 or 18x8.5 for rears.. and using a 215/45/18 and 245/40/18 tire, similar to the 17's stated above as far as width goes

basically i want to keep the same tire sizes as 17s the only difference would be upgrading from 17's to 18's, which size 18s would be good for those size tires?

thanks

The wheel and tire sizes you mention would be correct. Depending on the offset of the wheels you can go wider on the wheels and tires but the dimensions you list are fine.
If I can help let me know.

I think you should run a 215/40/18 and 245/35/18 if you plan to run 18" wheels. You have to go with a lower profile in order to keep the OD similar and keep your speedo and (effective) gearing the same.

For 17's

245-40-17 / 215-45-17

For 18's

245-35-18 / 215-40-17
