Default 17x8 +54 Front wheel

Debating on 235/45/17 or 245/40/17. From the charts I have seen with a RS3 the 235 is the ideal size for the 8" wheel. Has anyone run a 245 on a 8" rim? I am ok with a slight loss in feel as I prefer outright grip.

Any pics?

The rs3 is already a wide tire and a 245 on an 8 inch wide wheel is pretty crammed on there. I think 235 would be better since you won't have the bubbling effect the 245 would have.

Does this mean someon finally got some wheels?

No not yet... but hopefully soon

I think there is still a really good deal on a 17x8+54 front instead of going 17x9 all around...

The biggest problem with a 235 is diameter, there is no way to match the rear. From what I have seen, if you have to run a 235 then most people go with a 235/40.

CRs handle great with a non staggered 17x9 set up - gets rid of the push a lot.

That being said, try to keep the tire stagger to a minimum if you're going with staggered wheels. I know you've started to track a little recently.

I agree and its the ideal setup. Just trying to not touch my fenders and being lowered on the Swift Spec R springs makes me think I will start rubbing up front even with a lot of camber. I am sticking with springs for probably another year so my ride height is what it is...

Could always go with a 17x9 +60 or +63 all around

Sorry my post was confusing. The ideal setup is the sizes you mentioned and always been my plan. I find that when I am not quite ready to buy, I go back and forth constantly on what I should do lol. So figured I would explore the 17x8 scenarios...plus work is slowww today

Yeah too bad RS3 don't come in the more favorable 235/40 because that would be the winning size. 235/45 is really tall and bulbous. If that and a 245/40 is the only option, I might go for the 245 in this case because a shorter sidewall will be stronger then a taller one, even if its a bit pinched. But id try and get a wider rim in the 8.5 - 9.5" range ideally and at +54 range there wouldn't be any problem with fitment on those widths. The other option is to run a different extreme summer tire like the Z2 which comes in a 235/40.
