I am looking into buying 19' rims but i am cercerned with them rubbing. Does anyone know if i could fit 19's without rubbing. And does anyone know what the biggest wheels i could fit without any modification on a 05 s2000
It's all about offsets and ride height... I know someone who has 19" wheels and he doesn't seem to have any problems with them. I'll try to get the offsets for you.
theyll fit but the overall diameter of S oem tires is 25" so ud have to stay withing that. which means VERY narrow sidewalls..
if u go wide ull more than likely need 30 series or 25 series..
the car is better setup to hold 18's with its size.
and dont think im knocking 19's i owned over 20 sets on my old civic. REAL 19's (forged/ multipiece) lets just say i bought work wheels in 18" and its 20$ more for 19's since their already custom..
mainly size and less rubber. but we have very poor low end torque they will require more energy to get them moving initially and to get them to stop eventually.
unless their lightweight volks or equiv.. just prepare to lose around 50hp and about 200ft on braking distances..
again nothing against 19's just on our cars their too heavy/large for the wheel wells and overall diameter needed.
i mean their are a few people on here w/ chrome/ or 19's (both weight about same) and i bet they see it in gas mileage and performance.
I've got 19s on the car right now. Definitely not rubbing. For me, it doesn't seem like much of a difference, but you can still feel the difference. I'm running 19 x 8.5 +56 235/35/19 (f) and 19 x9.5 +71 265/30/19
19" wheels work great, just make certain you have the proper offsets. I'm lowered on Megan coilovers, and before that I had Eibach springs. I've only had slight rubbing when in a heavy turn and hitting large bumps on a canyon road I like to drive. I'm on 225/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires, but the photographs were taken when I had Nitto 555's in the same sizes. I use the Goodyears now for their excellent wet traction because I live in Hawaii.
This board has a lot bias when you say 19" so just go with what you like. You'll hear a lot of things like this:

but these comments are made without hands on knowledge or scientific backing. They use big words like "rotational mass" because others have, but hardly know what it means let alone whats its actual effect is in your application or how to calculate it. I didn't loose ANY hp on the dyno, in fact I had the best run out of half a dozen other S2K's during a dyno day, and like the other guys I just had an intake and exhaust at the time.
Far as braking distance goes, I had another car run me off the road at 75 mph when they changed lanes into me. My brakes worked incredibly well and if they hadn't I would have been split in two by the narrow end of a concrete wall.
Not all 19" wheels are heavy, ugly, chrome, power robbing monsters. Mine happen to be one piece forged aluminum, and with the rubber mounted they weigh the same as the stock wheel/tire combo. That shine is polished aluminum, not chrome. Just do what you're doing now, research what will work and pick a wheel that meets those specs and pleases your eye. Just be carefull with who/where you get your info from because not everybody here is an expert, and that includes me.
