Default 225/45 225/40 fronts 255/40 rears

I am about to buy some tires for my 17x8f 17x9r. I was wondering why are you guys going with the staggered heights? 45 fronts and 40 Rears? As oppose to going 40 all around.

Yes do 45 front and 40 rear so the tires will be the same height. The 225/40 is much shorter than the 255/40.

The calculations are a little hard to do in your head, but for EXACT differences, you can always use a tire size calculator.

Most of the time, the differences will be negligible. and other times you'll just have to be willing to settle for something that's close. All depends what you're looking for.

Per this site the 225 245 combo is 3.3 mm height difference and 225 255 combo only .76mm in height difference. So that being said prob not the best combo in sizes due to height differences?

Generally, to keep consistent sidewall height you will couple a 215/45 with a 245/40 or a 225/45 with 255/40.
