I need someone running Eagle F1 GS-D3's...their sizing is different if I'm not mistaken than that of bridgestone.

Did you guys that went up in size get your wheels/tires rebalanced?

You should always balance wheels and tires whenever you mount new (or used) tires.
If you are planning on 500 HP you should consider going quite a bit wider, a 10" wide wheel and 275ish tire at least.

I don't have the extra 3-4k laying around to buy nice 10" wide wheels...and with 10" wide wheels I'd have ridiculously skinny sidewalls, which means I'd burn through tires faster.

Look @ John from Inline Pro, he has stock ap1 wheels and runs 565whp and was able to run a 10.7 on street drag radials...I have 1.5" wider wheels and will be running 65 less whp...I'll be fine.

Please stick to the topic. Thanks.

I'm not sure you have the relationships between sidewall height, wheel width and wear ratings exactly straight.
Also, there is a 1" difference between the 7.5" AP1 and 8.5" AP2 rear wheels widths.

255's are only 10mm wider than 245's (in the same model tire) so there is no fitment issue on stock wheels at stock height, the wheel wells are the same size and shape between AP1's and AP2's at least up until MY2005.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

Cheers.

Good Luck.

Thanks Mike.

Just out of opinion, for FL driving, would you go with the RE-050 pole positions or f1 gs-d3's?

I like the RE050A Pole Positions. I have had the GS-D3's and they are a very good tire. But my favorite combo on the S2K so far, out of over 20 full sets of tires has been the RE050A Pole position in 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. And they can usually be found cheaper than the Goodyears on sale.

Cheers

I have RE050A 255's in back and stock RE050 fronts. I think it helped tons with dry traction. Rain is even harder now, but I just stay home... it happens like five days a year.

However, somehow the 255 size '050A seems to wear much faster. 40k from my stock set and I'll be lucky to see 30k from these. Dunno why.

It rains every day here in the summer and my S is my DD, I have no problem with wet grip on the RE 050A PP's, I think they are better than the stockers in the water, they definitely have wider rain grooves.
