Default 40 or 45 sidewall

I'm going to be purchasing tires here soon and from the research I've done I have come up with this.

I'm looking to get 225/45/17s and re11s I cannot find in 255/45/17 only 40 sidewall. I see people going with the 45s up from and 40 on the rears. My question is does this ever look odd? I guess I could go with 40 all the way around but I'm truly not a fan of the ultra low profile look.

I know re11a run a bit beefy so it's possible that 40s would look fine all the way around. I'm just wondering if anyone from personal experience. Would I be better off going with the 45s up from and 40s on the back? I'm just pretty picky and would hate I be disappointed if it looked weird.

Does anyone have pictures of 40/45 sidewall tires mounted and on a car. I've seen some that don't look bad and others that seem to be just to low of profile.

I'm hoping since the re11s are a bit more beefy compared to other tires I've owned that I will be fine.

Thanks in advance

Sidewall is a percentage, not a fixed number. 255/40 is the proper diameter to match the 225/45 front.

I am shocked this is still something people do not understand. If you read Tire Rack or Discounts site they explain this. As 1nate7 said the series is a percentage of the tread width. So a wider tire need a lower series to have the same height sidewall ad a narrower tire.

Hey...gotta learn sometime I really didn't fully understand all the numbers and terminology until a few years ago.

^True it is just such easily found info especially if you are buying tires online. Another hint would be the stock sizes for an ap2 that maybe that's not just a simple measurement.
