Default Tire Sizes

Hey Folks

I'm in desperate need of 2 front tires and I really don't want to buy 2 new ones or 4 new ones right now.

I've been having a really hard time finding used re050s in 215/45/17, but it seems a little easier to find them in 225/45/17.

I was wondering if you think it is a problem to run 225/45/17 with the 245/40/17 in the back.
I know that some run 225/45/17 with 255/40/17 in the back, but I will be keeping my 245/40/17 in the back.

Will this be a problem?
Thanks!

Where are you located?
It's not a problem but running 225s with 245s in the rear isn't good for performance and might look a little funny

IMO, the 225/45 fronts look kinda big even with 255/40 rears.

If money's tight, get some new 215/45-17 Sumitomo HTR Z III's from Tire Rack, only $83 per.

If you can't afford new tires, maybe you can't afford owning the car...

(1) I'm located in central NJ
(2) It's not that I can't afford buying new tires as much as wanting to keep all the tires the same

I agree with leester01...From personal experience on the setup I have on my S, I would prefer the 215/45/17 tire size on the front and the 255/40/17 tire size on the rear. Since they don't offer the tires of my choice in a 215 width then I'm stuck with the 225's in the front. But I have to bump up the tire pressure on the fronts to 35-36psi to get the car to handle neutrally. It's all about testing and your own preference so my advice is try it out and see how you like it. Remember everyone's driving style is different...Good luck.
