Believe it or not, but the 255-35-18 Hankook Rs-3 tires weigh 25lbs, compared with 26lbs for rear 16" OEM Ap1 Bridgestones. It seems the more low profile a tire is, the lighter it is. My 18" SSr Type C rear wheel and tire package is 2-3 lbs lighter per side. A lot of 18" tires are actually LIGHTER then 16 or 17" tires. Food for thought.
Werd.

My 255/35/18 star specs weigh just a tad less than my 255/40/17 rs-3s...
I guess my point was that where the weight lies can make a difference...for ex. comparing 2 wheel/rim combos of same weight

depends on the tires if u run something like the re11 or staspec the sidewalls r pretty stiff. i run stock ap1 size starscpecs and i do not notices any significant sidewall flex when compared to running the old ap2 v1 with stock size sumihomos.

btw back to the op im running rota slips 16/7/45 16/8/48 when i through them on the home scale the fronts were 12lb rears 18lb. do not know how accurate my house scale is. be warned though there are no decent performance tires in 16's that go wider than 225 unless ur looking at r-comps. im stuck running oem ap1 sizes would really like to run 225/245

Check these out even though I'm not sure if this brand is good or not. They are only 14.1 / 14.8 lbs front to rear and $200 each. That's cheap for the weight and would come in 7 lbs. lighter per corner than the ASA AR1 wheels that are 21.2 lbs.

Not sure. The 17s on the car now are the same width: 7 and 8 inches.

I haven't driven an AP1 on 16" wheels, but, I can say that Dave Roush the manager at the Mid-Ohio School said that adding AP2 wheels to his AP1 was the single best performance enhancement he had made on his personal S2000.
