Default 51mm offset front and rear?

Racing Hart says that with a 18 x 7.5" front and 18 x 8.5 rear they recommend a 51 mm offset on both the front and the rear.

I have run a 48 mm offset on the front with a 17" x 7.5" and run a 54 mm with a 17" x 8.5" rear. The rears rubbed occassionally.

I know the 51 mm should work on the front, but am concerned with the 51 on the rear. I have heard of several people running Volks that have run 50mm on the rear, but it seems that most other brands have had troubles with that offset I know I couldn't have run it on the Prodrives.

I can order other offsets if I like, I just want to be sure I am doing the right thing. I like the idea of the 51 offset since that will give me a little more lip. but since it will take 4-6 weeks to get the rims it won't be an easy swap if they don't work.

Any ideas from anyone?

I also would be concerned with the 51mm rear offset. If you ran the 17X7.5 all the way around you would be ok with the 51 offset but you would want to stay on the narrow side for the tires.
I would tend to look at 55mm offset as a good starting point.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you
