Anyone run S02s in 18"?
The rims will be here in 4-6 weeks so I have time to do a little tire shopping.
The GForce KDs had good initial turn in, but less overall grip than did my stock S02s which I know are only available in 16" sizes.
I thought about the Kumho MX, but in several Mag tests they had less grip than the GForce. Since I liked the S02s I thought maybe one of the Porsche treads might work. Anyone tried them?
I am looking for a dual purpose very high performance tire, street and autocross. R rubber is not an option for me.

I am thinking I would like to stay with 225/255s.
As to the S02s not working on our cars except for the stockers, it is the stockers are special and are a different size than it says on the sidewall so you have to size up to 225/245 to get the same tread width.
I like the progressive nature of the S02s and the total grip. I just don't know of the other tread patterns react this same way.

I am thinking about going with the S-02's in 18" too. I was thinking of going with the Porsche OEM 225 - 265 combo. The diameter is closer to stock S02 sizes than the 255/40 size.

Whoops that chart says I ordered too narrow a rear tire. It says I need at least 9" and I ordered 8.5".
I wonder if there is a difference in design philosophy of the Porsche tires since they are having to counteract a tail heavy car?

david, depending on the SSR wheel, the porsche 265/35/18 S0-2's WILL NOT fit correctly in the rear.....
the N1 (porsche 265 S0-2), is similar to the S2000 S0-2 in that it is somewhat oversized in it;s section width.....bridgestone does make (or used to make) a BMW application 265 S0-2....
i tried both on 18" SSR comps....the BMW provided no grip, the porsche provided incredible grip, but it was too wide and it used to rub and cause vibrations.
the BMW 265/35/18 is much narrower than the porsche 265/35/18....so, the BMW tire will not rub, but it doesn't have decent grip either....
with the right wheel (kinesis) the porsche set-up is perfect!!!
