I need my rears replaced with the quickness. Just bought the car 3 months ago, so I haven't had to do this yet.

Currently on Dunlop SP Sport5000, 245/45/R16

Being that this is my daily driver, and I don't live in Californie (read: it rains here), should I only be looking at all-season tires? The OEM tires and a couple others recommended to me by a grease monkey are all in the Max Performance Summer and Ultra High Performance Summer categories on tirerack.

I kind of need them quickly, and my local place can get me Yoko ES100, Fuzion ZRi, or Kumho 712 by wednesday, but I'm not sure if I should get any of those, since they're 'summer' tires.

 

There is no association between wet grip and type of tire (all season vs summer). IMHO all season just means not very good dry grip and not very good snow grip. Fusions are good tires for the price. I'm not a big fan of mixing different tires front and rear, but if you are stuck and don't want to spend the money to upgrade all four corners...

 

I would get the Fuzion ZRi;245/45/16.

 

:cough: I would NOT get all season tires in any situation. All season are not as good as 'summer tires' when it's not snowing and they are not as good as winter tires when it is snowing.

Summer tires are just as good in the wet as all season tires and far better in the dry. It's a mis-conception that people think summer tires are only good on dry roads.

The one thing about some max performance tires is they may not last very long so that when they are worn they don't like wet roads. I guess some ppl try to get to much use out of their worn tires.

The OEM tires (I think) wear out quick, I just got a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 max performance tires they have 2x the treadwear rating as the S02s. I don't have them on yet so I can't say how good or bad they are.

 

UHPAS works fine on our cars. For a daily driver in the mid part of the country like OK, they seem ideal. Summer tires can be hard at cold temps, so be careful and drive a few miles before getting aggressive.
