Default Another tire discussion

Hello,

My rear tires are down to the wear bars and I am trying to find the same kind since my fronts have plenty of tread left. I have scoured the internet and am coming up blank and being told they are discontinued and/or back ordered, looking at 6 weeks at best, if at all. I am running Dunlop SP Sport MAXX TTs. The rears are
245/40 ZR17. Since it looks as though I am going to have to go to a different tire and will need a whole set of 4, what are the best overall tires. I drive a bit aggresive but not overly so and am planning on an extensive road trip this October, so I am looking for a tire that has good grip with minimal noise. Through my searching I am coming up with Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s. Kind of pricey at around $900, so I want to be sure that once I commit to something, I won't have regrets afterward. Any and all advice will be extremely welcome. Thanks all!

Cheers!

Tyler

Look into the Contiental ExtremeContact DW. PS: We have a wheel/tire forum.

I have these, and love them... but my guess is if he's complaining about the price of the RE-11s, then he's not going to want to buy the PSS either.

The best tire for the money - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odel=HTR+Z+III

Michelin/Conti tires aren't very good in the performance category of tire. The Conti Extreme DW has a nasty sidewall and will get chewed up in autox. Regular driving, sure it's a decent tire.

Thanks for the info. I am new and am still sorting out the different discussion areas. Your suggestions are very good. 'bout the price; I'll spend the money if I get the goods. I just don't want to purchase a pricey item and only be moderately happy. I have used Michelins on many of my past cars and have always condidered them the best all around. I have reviewed the test data on these and they look like what I am looking for. Thanks again!

Cheers!

Dunlop Direzza Star Spec Z1s are what I equip on my car. They've lasted 18k miles and 2 HPDEs. I'm almost to the wear bars on the rears and will be getting the same tires again.

Star Specs here and I won't be changing when I need a new set. I'm also getting an extraordinary amount of life out of mine, not sure why. I've got ~20k on them and no signs of wearing for another season or two. I don't drive "easy" but apparently I don't drive anywhere near "aggressive" either?

How do you get 18k out of a rear tire? Are you running non-staggered?

Best I could get out of the star spec's was 10K on the rears. Lots of hard driving, and autox. They were balled.

I take it this isn't your daily?

For the money...it's hard to beat RS3s. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....22XL&tab=Sizes

Also, I'd plus +1 your specs and go with 225/45 255/40 combo

I run star specs and love them, and I've got a buddy with Nitto NT05 and swears by them on his 390whp ap1. But for the money...you can't beat the rs3s.
