Both highly subjective matters ("best" and "expensive" always are, regardless of topic). You provided a little info on the former matter but I didn't see a budget posted for what you consider to be reasonable. Don't assume that your preferences are universal. Give us an upper limit or price target and clarify what you're looking for.

As suggested above, the Wheels & Tires subforum has countless threads on tire options. The Star Specs, RS3's and HTR ZIII's are some popular options but what's "best" really depends on what you're specifically looking for and your budget. Are your current tires the only ones you've used on the S? What have you liked or disliked about the tires you've had in the past (specifically on the S)? Give people something to work with if you want suggestions or else you'll just get people blindly recommending what they bought (applies to any topic -- not just tires or cars).

 

All very good points. My apologoes on my vagueness. I just got this car last August and has the tires I mentioned. The rears are gone but the fronts have a lot of tread left, so I wanted to simply replace the rears only to find that they are discontinued. This led me on the search for a complete replacement set. From some suggestions (albeit it blind) I have done some additional research. Tire Rack has an excellent format for that. In the interim, I was able to find a place to get the two rear replacements that match what I am currently running. Please excuse my naivety here; I am new and learning the forum. Thank you for your direction for future questions.
