Another Tire question
Hello, this is my first time posting on this site, been a member for a little while and I am in need of assistance. I have searched the forums about this for the last hour or so and I couldnt find what I was looking for. Heres the deal, a friend has a two 205 50 16 tires off of his integra that are 95% tread left and is willing to sell cheap. I was considering picking these up and buy the two more for the rear in 225 50's but from reading it seems that this is not ok because of the diameter difference from front to rear??? What would or should I expect if i were to do this? I guess that is what the question is that I cannot seem to find directly in the post. Thanks guys!
Front to rear diameter different doesn't matter. That said, if your rear tires are a different overall diameter from stock, then your speedometer will be off. 245/45/16 is a good OEM replacement rear size for an AP1.
First off the 205/50R16 is not a good tire size. They are shorter than the original tires by almost a full inch. That will throw off anti lock brakes and will give the car a funny wheel well gap in the front.
Yeah it seems to be about a .5 inch difference in side way and about .75 in diameter. I normally do not look this far into tire decisions because I havent had to. This seems like a weird car to pick tires for. So if I do not upgrade to a 17 the only "safe" option I have is the 205 55 16 and 225 50 16 as originals are..and the aspect of them being smaller diameter on the 205 50 will hinder my braking?
205/50-16 is shorter than stock, but it would work. Shorter than stock fronts biases more braking to the front (which is more stable), ABS will still function pretty much normally.
But what make/model are these tires, and are they compatible with YOUR particular wants/needs/usage demands?
Only if these tires are one of the best choices for your usage AND if you're hard up for cash and NEED new tires would I even consider them.
If you need tires, best bet just to get new ones in the stock sizes, 205/55-16 front, 225/50-16 rear (there are still plenty of options in those sizes).

The tires are Goodyear gt, it is an all season and I am not really looking for all seasons but for the price that he would sell me the front and the relative cheapness of the two rears it would save me a good chunk of money. I do need some new tires asap tho the SO2s on the rear of mine are getting a little scary haha. I would love to get the continental extreme contact DW but just do not have the money at the moment...

Don't let cheap front tires now dictate a sub-optimal tire make/model choice.
