Default AP1 non oem tire size

I read somewhere that if you dont buy the OEM tires for AP1, you have to go with 245/4516 for the rears. The problem is there aren't that many good tires available in 245/45/16. How bad will the handling be affected if I went with 225/50/16 non oem size? Thanks

You definitely do not have to go with a 245/45 rear. Why would you want a 225/55 though? It is stock width but the diameter is oversized. A nice sticky tire like the Dunlop Star Spec or Bridgestone RE-11 in stock 225/50 rear will have way more grip than any of the available street tires in 245/45.

They make the Toyo proxes T1R and the R888 in 245/45/16 as well as the Bridgestone Potenza RE11 I hear is coming in June.

I'd like to see an AP1 with 225/50 Fronts and 245/45 Rears.
