Default Axis Question?

I've been looking at 100's of rims, and the only ones that I really like are the Axis mods in black. They come in 18"x7.5 and according to wheels next, the offset is 42. Can I run all 4 at the 7.5 with a 225-40-18? They guy said I'd rub if I lowered it but reading these forums has kinds given me the impression that alot of the sales guys are usually incorrect so I want some other opinions. If he is correct, would this mean I couldn't go ANY lower or that I just couldn't put it on the ground?

It's not the correct offset and your not going to be running the recommended "staggered" setup....but YES it can be done with a 7.5 rim and 225" tires.

The salesman is correct that you will rub if your dropped to the ground. A 1 inch drop you should be fine. The front will most likely rub on hard cornering.

The front would rub on hard cornering with the 1"drop, or at stock height?

I would say it may rub on a hard turn even at stock height.

My guy at Axis tells me that you have to do 19x8.0 +45 offset all the way around.

oh, and the 18's will rub on the brake caliper.

the 19's will not rub.

Will the 19's rub if the car is lowered? Would te fact that it's non staggered hinder performance?

Yes and yes.

The S2000 does not work well with wheels that don't have the correct offset, and it is extremely sensitive to tire choice. It goes beyond just rubbing, the handling of the car can go from neutral with stock wheels/tires to massive oversteer with the wrong choice of tires and/or wheels. The tires must be staggered.

Going 19" is purely for static display at car shows. If you go with 18" or 19" the handling, acceleration, braking and safety will be compromised.

the 19's will not rub if you lower it. The handling will be neutral, but dont expect to be doing canyon runs at ridiculous speeds.
