Unhappy BBS RGR or Volk LE37T's in 18's for AP2 S2k?

After seeing Jay's post for his new wheels, I really love the look of his car:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=360381

So my question is this:

If you guys had a choice (price not a consideration since I know BBS is going to cost more) which wheel would you pick?

The BBS RGR's specs (direct from Tirerack)

Finish Shown: Diamond Black Painted

Size Selected: 18x7.5Front
Price: $675 each
Estimated Availability: In Stock
Recommended Tire Size: 225/40-18
Wheel Offset: +50mm
** Lightweight: 18.1 lbs. **

Size Selected: 18x8.5 Rear
Price: $702 each
Estimated Availability: In Stock
Recommended Tire Size: 255/35-18
Wheel Offset: +53mm
** Lightweight: 18.3 lbs. **

Whereas the Volks are slightly heavier and the offsets seem to be a bit different but I don't know how that affects me in terms of more rubbing or less?

Volk LE37T 18in
front 18x7.5 offsets +48 225/40/18
rear 18x8.5 offsets +50 255/35/18

What would you guys pick? I'm not going to track the car since it's a daily driver and I want no rubbing issues, etc....

(Note: I will be running Tien Flex and eventually will run either the full Endless brake kit or the Brembo GT kit so need the caliper clearance)

Thanks,
rick

I went with the RGR's. I like the lip it has in the rear. It's gives it a very obvious staggered look to the wheels. You don't get this with the LE37t's. RGR's are high in quality and weighs in at 'bout 18 lbs. Not too many s2k's have them either. Everytime I went to a meet I was the only guy with the RGR's.

The LE37T's are cool too! I have them on my other car. But for the S, I would go with the RGR's

BTW, if you want to go with a BBK. The RGR's are not friendly to this mod. I tried to get the 6 pot willwoods in the front and a 5mm spacer couldn't help this. I didn't want to go any wider than a 5mm spacer.

There isn't much clearence for any BBk setup without seriously altering your studs fenders and so forth. Not worth it in my opinion.

Nice wheel though if you stay with the oem brakes or the willwood 4 pot.

I noticed in your sig that you sold your RGR's Simon. How much did you sell your RGR's for?

$1800 with the tires. Sold them to a friend.

I was contemplating selling the S but I'm glad I didn't. I wanted to part it out before selling and my buddy always wanted the same wheels but didn't really want to fork out the $$ for a new set. So we worked something out, $1800+ his 1st born. j/k.

Since I'm keeping the S, I wish I never sold the RGR's! I really don't feel like spending a bunch of $ for wheels/tires.

I went with AP2 wheels/tires but it's not the same. Take a look:

Simon, thanks so much for your post and insight! That really helps me in deciding which route to go....too bad BBS don't make the RSGT for the s2k fitment.

I know BBS has a long standing heritage of high quality race wheels and you can't go wrong with their quality or weight advantage.

Are yours 18's? Exactly the same fitment specs as what Tirerack has listed?

Wondering if it's possible to get those lips polished out by a local wheel shop and then it will truly be a one of a kind wheel.

btw, the AP2's don't look bad but definitely not the same feel!

Still debating if I want to sell my literally brand new AP2 rims/tires......I really have no more room in the garage as it stands!

Another happy RGR owner here. You'll probably want your stock wheels when (if ever) you sell your car. Must buyers would not pay a premium for the RGR's or any aftermarket wheels.

The current Tirerack price for RGR's is super high, but they used to be cheaper. I suspect the weak US dollar as the reason.

I actually bought my RGR's off ebay, where I have also sold 3 or 4 sets of wheels over the years. The wheels also come up for sale here on s2ki every few months.

Both choices will rub. The larger diameter 18" tires will bog your acceleration down. The narrowest 18" front tire is still too wide for the S2000.

17" is the way to go unless you are only doing it for looks.

+1 for the rgr's. unless you want 17's, then the rgr's starting looking mighty small because of the design.
