We carry the wheel but not with a fitment for the S2000.

245/45/16's work just fine on the rear 16x7.5" wheels.

I agree. That is an ok fit. Here is a general guideline: Just progress your way to performance tire specs (Proxes T1-S).

Jonas,

The kicker is the 17" is 1" lower profile and the specs are different. Just because the tire is the same width doesn't matter. You will need a 17X8 to 17X9 for a 245/40R17 tire.
The sidewall of the 245/40R17 is shorter and will not pull over to seat on the 7.5 correctly.

Thanks for the info,but what will happen if you do put a 235/40-17 or 245/40-17 on a 7.5x17 wheel?
Will the performance suffer?

BMW does use a 235/40R17 on a 17X7.5 on the 1995 M3 so that would be OK. If you try to use the 245/40R17 on the 17X7.5 wheel it will pull in the sidewall of the tire, pull up the tread off the ground and not seat properly on the rim.
