Default CE28N Volk Wheels

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to annoy as I know this sort of thing would have been posted before.

I have just purchased a set of Volk CE28N wheels new in Burnt Silver 17" 7.5" ET50 at the front and 9.0" ET63 at the rear which I am assured are the perfect offset for the s2k.

I would like to know what size tires to put on the wheels to keep the rolling radius the same or as close as possible to the OEM 16"s. The car has always had Bridgestone's on it which have faired ok in both grip and wear but was wondering if other owners get on better with different rubber?

I also have Spoon Monoblock calipers coming from Japan and are hoping that the wheels clear the calipers ok?

Thanks in advance

I have the same wheels and I'm running Dunlop Star Specs 225/45/17 in the front and 255/40/17 in the rear with nothing but good to say about the setup. The wide and sticky tires makes the car much more fun to drive.

It's also dead close to the OEM radius.

Goodluck!

That's what I thought about running profile wise. The company in the UK that sold me the wheels said they would recommend 215/40/17 for the front and 245/35/17 at the rear which I thought was too low as the car would be banging about over every tiny bump!

Thanks for your help fernando!

The OEM AP2 Bridgestone RE050 tires in 215/45/17 and 245/40/17 will be a nearly exact match for diameter and tread width. All other 215 front tires will be significantly wider, most 245 rears will be narrower. Diameter varies from brand to brand, just be aware that even a small difference in diameter can be felt because our cars are low on torque.

www.tirerack.com shows measurements for most tires but they aren't always accurate.

Here are pics, the RE050 are on CE28 17x7.5 +50 and 17x9.0 +63, the S02 are on OEM wheels.

These are the two types of Bridgestone tires ive only ever had. I couldn't get SO-2s in the UK any more for years so switched to the RE050a's which seemed to last longer especially on the rears. Should I put 255's on do you think or 245's if I use either of these tires? The SO-2s are readily available in the UK again now so I have the option?

I haven't tried the RE050A, they are a little different than the OEM RE050. The OEM RE050 is the best tire for the street that I've run on my S. They are a little more expensive than other tires but they feel great. Better than the RE11 I'm currently running. I'd stick with the stock 245 size to avoid any changes to the tire diameter/rollout.

S-02 is a very good tire but the rears don't have much channeling so if you drive in the rain I'd go RE050.

Thanks for the advice. I did find the S-02's very slippery in anything but the dry. I think I will put RE050's on when the rims arrive.

Yes do note the RE050 A's and the RE050 "MZ" spec are quite different. I had the A's fitted by mistake once and were changed back the next day!! I tend to lean on the back as many do with S's! The flex in the sidewall doesnt inspire confidence.

Im loving your choice of wheels and the exact same colour. Fancy doing this too, when the cash allows! Were you coming from 16"? One of the guys down South just fitted the Spoon calipers......lovely piece of kit. Great when up to temp. You mite need some spacers from what Im aware of. Just double check

Fernando, is your car lowered on that offset at all running 225/45 255/40 ?

My Volks and Coilovers have arrived, just waiting on the Spoons
