Clear plastic coating on the stock wheels?
Anyone know if the stock wheels have a clear plastic coating over the chrome? I'm asking because it looks like mine is starting to come off in a couple of places!
Is this supposed to come off over time? Anyone know if this is subject to warrenty? It looks pretty ugly!

If the wheel is chrome it would not have a clear coat. If it is a polished wheel it probably does have a clear coat. The clear can come off if the wheels are cleaned with aftermarket cleaners or car washes that use a wheel cleaner.
I don't htink Honda has a warranty for this.

I just noticed this yesterday when I was cleaning my car. On the lip of the rim where the metal meets the tire, there was a clear piece of plastic that was peeling off. I'm fairly sure that it is just remnants of the protective plastic that is attached to the rim when the car is delivered. If what you are noticeing is similar, I wouldn't worry about it.

The OEM wheels are painted with the top surfaces machined. They are painted with a clear coat on top of everything. I don't recall anything about any plastic coating on them, however. I have eight OEM wheels in the garage and none of them have a plastic coating on them, but all are clear coated.
