Default cooper tires

Is anyone out there running Cooper tires? How do they perform? I'm getting ready to shop tires and the dealer I use recommended Cooper.

What do you want to do with the car? IMO 200 treadwear if you do any type of sprited driving. If you don't cheap out on one thing on the s, make it tires.

don't do it. the dealer has no clue.

for street driven s2000's, only go with 200 utqg or lower. eg. dunlop star specs, hankook rs-3's, re-11's (if you got the scratch). don't even think about all, er, no season tires.

good luck

The car came with an extreme performance, 140 TWR tire. Anything less will degrade performance. Even at 300 TWR, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport wouldnt be an injustice to the car. If you're looking for something relatively inexpensive Hankook V12s and ExtremeContact DW are both popular compromises. You are up north, so is your car a daily driver?

I am gonna pick up some tires from Tire Rack today and am trying to decide on some myself.
My top choices are...

Continental DW
Bridgestone Potenza S-04

I thought about the Hankook v112's but I think the treadwear is too high because even driving my girlfriends MINI I get the car to get loose and its FWD, i cant imagine it being good on the s2000.
I am slightly thinking about the Potenza RE11 as well, I know they are super pricy(only about 15 dollars per tire than Dunlop Star Specs in the size I am looking at) so it seems like a no briainer there considering they lost longer from what I read,....and now that I went non staggered I can rotate which will help increase life.

Even if the car is your daily, its better to have a dedicated winter tire, if in fact you need it, then it is to compromise on performance everywhere to get something that is "ok" in all seasons.

The tire test done by member Psychoasian https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/839...s-dunlop-z1ss/
says that the increased life out of the RE11 is way worth the extra money....i think he said somewhere in the thread he got 18k out of re11 with mixed daily and track days.....i only got 12k out of star specs............plus there is a rebate right now with bridgestone making the re11 a few dollars less than star specs.

Really this applies to any car.

So many car owners do it - they spend the bare minimum on the only part of the car that touches the road.

Don't be cheap about tires for the S2000 or ANY car you ever own. Please. It's a mistake to be a cheap skate when it comes to tires.
