Default Determining offset on a Lexus IS300

I found a set of wheels that I am interested in, but the seller only knows that they came from an 01 or 02 Lexus IS300. He took the wheels (or car) to a tire place and they told him they had a 0 offset. I am not sure what that means. Does that mean it is the same as the IS300's stock offset? How would I go about figuring out what this means and/or the IS300's offset? THere are tires still on the wheels so I guess the seller cant see the markings.

thanks.

They do not have a 0 offset. If I remember correctly they have 45 or 48 offset on the stock 17x7 wheels. A 0 offset wheel would stick way outside the fender on an IS.

An offset of "0" merely means that the plane of the mounting surface is exactly the middle of the width of the rim.

We typically have + offset. Remember "chrome reverse rims"? Guess what was "reversed" on them? They had - offset.
