Difference in going with lighter wheels?
I think the main issue is if you're already going to be buying wheels, the difference between a heavier wheel that's mostly looks vs a lightweight forged wheel is going to be bigger.
I don't know about the s2k because I just went with RPF1's and in the size I'm running it's practically the same weight as stock. However, when I switched from a fairly heavy set of 17's on my 2000 GSR to a set of 15" Volks, I could easily tell the difference.

Is there any way just to swap out the rotors for some lightweight pieces without having to buy a whole "big brake" kit?
Most of the OEM size rotors I've seen are fairly cheap and don't' seem to have weight savings in mind.

I put some Tein RS coilovers and Enkei RPF-1s on my car and I felt a slight difference...mainly the car just felt sharper and reacted to the road better. I saved 9lbs off each rear wheel, and 4lbs off each front. 26lbs of unsprung weight is a lot to take off a car!
I went from stock shocks, to a full aluminum coilover. Stock AP2 V1's with 225/255 Star specs to 17x9+45 all around with 245/255 star specs.

It's also worth noting you can save 10lb unsprung weight (2/8 F/R) by going with Continental ExtremeContact DW tires vs OEM. The weight of the tires is on a larger diameter so it will make an even bigger difference relative to the wheels or brakes.

Yes I am including that.
AP2 :17.6lbs (17x7) and 20.5lbs (17x8.5)
Enkei RPF1: 16lbs (17x9) and 16lbs (17x9)
Just in wheel weight that is 3.2 lbs front and 9 lbs rear for a total of 12.2 lbs.
Coilovers were 1lbs savings on each front, and 3 lbs each rear for a total of 8 lbs savings.
I forget what the tires plus wheels weighed. I can check tonight. I did complete before and after weights on everything, but as you can see I am already at 20lbs off.
I do remember that my AP2 rear with 255 weighed 46lbs, and my Enkei with the exact same tire weighed 42lbs. I forget what the stock front weighed, but the Enkei with the 245 weighed 42lbs as well. I tried a few times, and still got 42lbs for the Eneki with both a 245, and 255 tire. Granted the 255 is worn about 50%, so if I had a full treaded tire it would have probably been closer to 46lbs in the rear, same as stock.
