this is not to impress chicks. it was a statement, but i damn sure am not trying to impress a bunch of sausage. thats all who like the wheels these guys buy. females do not give a damn about works or anything. the entire reason you buy stuff for your car is to impress and excite, do you do that for guys?

and yes 17s are tiny............if the factory put in on, its too small with very few exceptions (ferrari etc)

^^ lol i went from taking your post as a valid opinion to now just sorta wtf.

few things:

1. if you didnt care what we thought or anticipated that people would rag on you. why you even post. you obviously do care.

2. its not that we like tiny wheels on our cars its because the s2k is a small looking car. why put big wheels on it? not that i hate the idea of big wheels. but theres a limit to everything man. you can just go throw 20s on anything with out it looking funny.

same concept goes if you put 16s on a escalade or something.

I agree that sometimes people can be harsh when an idea is thrown that is out of the norm. but from both sides you have to take a look at it in different views.

some people are so caught up on the bandwagon they cant see any other way.

however there are people who want to be sooooo different they end up doing something funky.

if you really want to be different check out those BBS wheels someone repained time attack with each bolt gold plated. definitely something different yet very hot.

/end super long post

And I thought I was a crazy for putting 15's on my Miata! Which btw changed the vehicle dynamics significantly.

btstone84 I think what your not seeing is that the average s2000 owner likes a car that can handle, hence all the hoopla about light weight wheels that tend to be the same. To you it's a lack of originality to them (myself included) weight savings is sexy. And if a girl doesn't know that a strong yet light weight wheel is better then she's not my type.

There is nothing wrong with being different or trying something new, just don't get so upset when people don't agree with you. Besides most people said it's your choice, they just wouldn't recommend it. I personally think that while you might be able to do it, the ride would be unbearable with no sidewall.

PS I like the stock wheels. In fact, I liked them so much I bought a second set. Don't hate on my tiny wheels I just have different taste

If you do it right, it might work (although I think 20" is too big...maybe 18" and 19")....

If you go HRE or DPE, you might pull it off.

You know... it's getting to be a tired argument. Nobody thinks putting huge wheels on a car is going to positively affect the car's performance. However, if it's a street driven car, it should NEVER be driven near it's performance potential. So... buy whatever YOU think looks good. 99% of people buy wheels as automotive jewelry. It's a fashion item.

Because YOU guys prefer the lightweight small wheel look, doesn't mean he's stupid for considering 20s. Hell, my car has gigantic (for an S2000) HREs, and my favorite S2000 ever is the Opera lightweight race car. People's styles differ. Wheels like this are about style. If you don't like the style say so. But the same beaten horse about "Well you know, you're going to lose .2 seconds from 40-70 when merging on the interstate because the reciprocating mass of your gigantic... blah blah blah" is getting a little long in the tooth.

[/rant]
You're wrong. My argument in favor of preserving or enhancing the s2000's performance via a wheel upgrade had nothing to do with raising the performance potential. (Though I totally agree that the street is no place to probe said potential.) Adding weight to the wheels fundamentally changes the character of the car, especially when you're getting into such small tire profiles. This change will be quite noticeable at all speeds, even if you aren't even getting on the car. The car's dampers won't function as well. The car will feel different. Long in tooth, it may be, but don't discount the argument, because it will all affect the car profoundly. Since I bought the car because of the way it felt (light, nimble, etc), I think that what the OP is proposing to do is totally ridiculous. He will destroy what makes the car great.

The aesthetic reality of the s2000 isn't much different, either. The s2000 is a classic itineration of a Japanese sports car. Simple. Minimalist. A measured response to what the designer thought a sports car should be, and no more. Performance aside, putting giant wheels on this car would clash badly with the theme (soul?) of the car. Blending the excess of ballin' dubs with the minimalism that is the s2000 just isn't going to work. That being said, OP, out with the photoshop. Prove us wrong.

What Jimbrowski said about girls noticing "the overall feel and flow of a car" is as insightful as it is absolutely correct. Girls will pick up on the aforementioned clashing of themes.

Everything I just typed is totally invalid if actually are trying to attract the type of girl that will mistake an enormous wheel to be proportional to your net worth... If that's the case, I recommend just lying to them about how much you make. Although equally dishonest, lying would be much cheaper that getting new wheels (free!), and just as effective, as those girls probably aren't bright enough to catch on. Buying wheels to get laid is twice as ridiculous as putting twenty-inch wheels on an s2000. Why do you need wheels, anyway? Picking up girls in a stock s2000 is like fishing with dynamite. Sounds like you need to improve your game, not your wheels. Or buy a different car. For maximum attention, contact Bubb Rubb via the following link....

It is my opinion that the entire point of owning an s2000 is to make you smile when no one is around. Making a social statement with giant wheels is materialistic and immature, at best.

Oh , and totally pm me if you're down for a Prodrive masturbation frenzy. Consider this your invite.

The size wheels that he is looking at dont have to be purchased. They can be rented.

The girl thing was just a staement to show that all your wheels impress other guys. im not trying to impress a bunch of old ass S2000 fans. I want to make a staement of originality, if i want to go pick up girls i would drive my jaguar. it was just a statement to show the stupidity of buying the same wheels everyone else gets just to have another guy say thats hot. I want people that do not own an S2000 to say "wow thats hot". the S is not minimul. it is elegant. and many females love it. its a great conversation starter. so if its like fishing with dynamite to you then you must check the game you have.

PS Luke.....My game is proper, dont bring your girl around me, i may show you
