dunlop sp sport 8000
i just got a set of dunlop sp sport 8000 in 255/40/17 zr n-o to replace my well worn yoko avs es 100. i wanted s0-2s but i was leaking pressure and needed a tire fast and the best price they could do was 270 each for the bridgestones.. yikes.. so i went for the dunlops at 170 each. so far i'm pretty happy with the dunlops they feel amazing compared to the belts i've been running on the last few weeks. the real reason i bought them is because i'm expecting a longer tread life and i wanted something a step up from the yokos which were pretty cheap. my tire guys said the zr n-o model is specially made to be a tad harder than most other zr's. anyways i just wanted to try to get some feedback on the dunlops. i haven't seen much info on the boards about them but i think they are a pretty decent buy. let me know what ya guys think. hopefully next year i'll be able to get some s0-2s. they still seem to be the favorite around here.

I dunno about longer tread life...I went through 3 sets of SP8000's (195/55/14) on my 88 MR2 SC (only 145hp) and none lasted more than 12K miles. The handling I liked, predictable, when they let go it was gradual, not a on/off snap like some tires. Tire technology has come a long way since the 8000's were introduced but they are still a decent tire, I like them way better than the SP9000's.

I agree with Vanos, I don't think they are going to last any longer. The tire guy was wrong about the tires being harder. The NO is a Porsche OE tire. In testing we have done on the SP8000 they are going to be quieter than the ES100 but that is going to be about it.
The S02 that is available in the 17" is not the same tire that comes on the S2000. It is again a Porsche OE tire. The 255/40R17 SO2 only has a contact patch of 7.9" which is narrower than the 225/50R16 by .6".
I think they are better options. If I can help let me know.
