Default Effects on performance moving to 18"

I am thinking about moving to 18" wheels. Many people have said that it takes away from the performance of the s2, can anyone tell me any specifics that I should be concerned with?

Thanks!

You are increasing unsprung weight, hence you are going to affect how quick the car is etc. 18's are mostly for looks unless you get a fatter set of rims to put more meat on the ground. Just keep your stagger if you plan on doing any spirited driving.

I think the Volk 18's are in the same rage as the OEM wheels so the weight wont hurt it so.

So the weight is the only issue?

^^ it's not just how heavy the wheel is. It's where the weight in the wheel is distributed. On a larger diameter wheel the weight is gonna be further away from the center which gives you a higher rotational mass. All this really means is your engine has to work harger to get those wheels spinning.

This is just off the line right? Would it matter at a rolling start? And does it change it THAT much?

Why would traction change if I were to keep the widths the same?
