Expanding your tires set up from stock
For your stock wheels, has anyone experienced a tire set up such as 225/50/16 front and 245/45/16? Please shine in your experiences, including any improvements in fender gap, performance, gas mileage.
Those are the tire sizes that most of us run on stock rims at the track or when autocrossing. If you choose to go wider up front while keeping nearly the same width in the rear (non-OEM 245/45/16 is about the same width as OEM 225/50/16), make sure that you add a stiffer front swaybar to help maintain the correct balance of the suspension. Otherwise, you'll wind up with a car prone to oversteer.
On a street-driven car with no swaybar change you'll experience no change in fender gap, lower performance and likely have a small decrease in mileage.
