Default Experienced Drivers Please Chime In!

So here's the deal. I have chosen Dunlop Star Spec's for my next tyre purchase. I wanted to go 235/40/18 and 255/35/18 BUT! I do not like how the front tyre looks taller than the rear so decided to go 40's all the way around. My question is this. Today, I found a crazy good deal on some 245/40/18's. They are brand new, sticker still on them, for like half price. A no brainer right! ??

1. Will the 40's fit in the rear just as well as the 35's would? (stock suspension now but will be going with Buddy Club N+ soon) I know we're talking 5mm difference here, but on the car I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make as far as fenders are concerned...

2. Will a 245 hook up just as well as a 255 or would there be a noticable difference? (currnetly the S pushes so imo the 245 rear combo with 235 front may be a good thing?)

and 3. As far as the 245 vs. 255... Will I visually notice much of a difference in the looks of the width's? I like the wider look of coarse, but for the price, your opinion on the difference?

Thank you for your input, all opinions welcome!

Hmmm... 17 views and not 1 response? Do I have to actively track my car to get opinions here?

1: what is the width / offset of your 18 inch rims? offsets lower than 50 could pose fender issues. Also how low do you plan to drop and are you concerned with cambering in to avoid the fender.
2: prolly depends how grippy and old your previous tires are, but star specs are grippier than almost anything out there.
3: i have no idea how anal you are about looks.
Tirerack prices the 245/40's almost 60 bucks less per tire than the 255/35's.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help. I guess this should have went in the tire rack section?

Well, I'm not too sure but I think my offsets are 45? I am running 225/245 Michelon Pilot Sport Radial X's right now.

I plan on dropping just enough to rid of fender gap. I don't want to have too much issue with bottoming everywhere I drive. And I'd like to be able to get away with UK spec alignment, or thereabout...

As far as being anal about looks, I think going 40 all the way around will make me happy vs. 40 f and 35 r. Otherwise, IMO I doubt I'll notice the .38" difference in width? But again, without having the two to compare?

I don't know how to move this to Tire Rack section, but feel free to do so. Thanks.

You need to wait at last a day (much more than 40 minutes anyway) on any forum site. If you need an immediate answer a discussion forum is not the place to ask.
