Thumbs up Falken or Yoko tires?

My '90 CRX-Si needs new street sneakers.

As I only droive it about 5,000 miles a year tires last me a long time, thus it has been a long time since I bought tires for it. The tires that are on there now are Bridgestone Potenza RE71 in a perfectly weird size of 195/55-14, A size I can no longer find. My thought is I might go back to the 195/60-14 I used to run, I don't like the bigger circumference but I do like the extra width over the stock 185/60-14.

Here are my two contenders for street tires. Thoughts?

Yokohama AVS ES100
$69 per tire

Falken Azenis Sport
$51 per tire

Keep in mind for the most part my CRX-SiR is now a garage queen, sort of like the S, on rainy days I drive the pickup.

I'm really leaning towards the Azenis Sports. Has anyone experienced these before?

being rt215 is getting phased out, it'll be pretty hard to find. get the new RT615's cost a little more, but according to most reviews, most folks like them over the old rt215.

If you want the 195/55/14 size you may still be able to get them in the Dunlop SP8000....great tire, a little pricier though than the others you showed if I remember correctly. I had them on a supercharged MR2 and liked them, very predictable. I also ran the Falkens in the 195/60/14 and they were also good tires but when you overheated them (say 15 straight minutes of hard canyon running) they got really greasy and slid a bit more than I'd like. I had the ES100's on an M3, they were decent, good for the price (1/2 as expensive as the MXXX3's) but ultimate grip wasn't there. God I love tires

Take a look at the Dunlop 8000 in the 195/55R14 at 71.00 each if you like the size that is on the car now. The shorter tire will help the gearing.
If I can help let me know.

Well I have to say the car has had both RE71s and SP8000 on it before, and based upon how inferior the Dunlop was compared to the Bridgestone, I'm not so sure I want to go there again. Had I never experience the Bridgestone RE71s the SP 8000 may have been a contender.

I did some measuring this weekend and I'm afraid with the wider wheels I just can't make the 195/60 work. I now remember when I ran the 195/60-14 I was on the old Acura GSX wheel and they were only 5.5 wide. The wider 6" MSW wheels and the 195/60s are sure to rub on the back over a bump or hard into a corner. Sooooooo I guess that eliminates the Falken.

And now for the good news...
I'm going TOYO! Sorry Jim, you guys just plain need to carry this brand...

$72/tire with a total of $49 for shipping...
