A few questions about square setups.
Ive been running nonstaggered for quite some time. Personally i love it. Added a heavier front bar and dialed a litttle more preload in the front coilovers. Handles great. I see no reason to run staggered wheels on a 50/50 car.
I am running a square set up on my CR, 17 x 8.5 with 245 star specs, the increased spring rates and sways on the CR have compensated nicely on the car and I got rid of the understeer that the staggered set had on the track.
I have been running non staggered on my CR for a few months, my car is completely stock save for the 17x9 +63 wheels and 255 star specs. I have not tracked it or auto-crossed it yet, but despite the extra front grip I find the car to still be fairly neutral and have not had any excessive oversteer. However, I find it has a strange feeling in the front that I do not think I know how to describe, and it hurts my confidence with the car, I know it has an awful lot more then I am asking from it. I am not an expert by any means but I have been to about 10 track days over the past 3 years and my old AP1 gave me so much confidence at the edge.
I think the front wheel on the inside of the corner is lifting or losing grip due to too much weight shifting off the tire. Perhaps someone here can chime in, but I think the solution to my problem is that I do in fact need a much larger front sway bar.
Here is a picture from the dragon last month, you can see how the inside wheel looks like its barely touching the ground!
Example picture of front wheel lifting
