I'm running "CR spec" 215 front 255 rear and am constantly debating going to 225 fronts next time. If I needed new tires tomorrow I'd stay with the 215. But who knows next week? Running the Bridgestone S04 (Max performance), which are a mere $30 more per set of 4 in 225/255 than the Firestones (Ultra performance) using Tire Rack as the price guide.

The S-04s are quite a bit wider than the Firehawks. Anyone running Firehawks have opinion re best sizes? Remember, I am running wheels that are 1/2 wider than stock ap2 wheels.

I'm assuming you're on 17x7.5F / 17x9F

225/255 to maximize outright grip and heat capacity

215/245 for better feedback, feel, and liveliness

215/255 if you like understeer

225/245 if you like more turn in accompanied with diminished feedback/steering feel up front

Yes, 7.5 and 9. Will the 215/245 Firehawk look stretched on these wheels?

It should be fine. For reference, the current gen GT3 runs a 245 on a 20x9" rim, which has much less side wall to work with.

The range of fitment for a 215/40r17 tire is rim with a width of 7-8.5"
For a 245/40r17 is rim width of 8-9.5"

I ordered 215/255. Thanks for the input.

One 215/245 is not the same as another 215/245.

For example, the S-04 215 tread width is 7.7". The 245 S-04 is 9.0"

The Firehawk 215 tread width is 7.1", and the 245 is 8.3".

The 255 Firehawk has a treadwidth of just 8.8", narrower than the S-04 245.

The differences are not huge and its just one parameter among many.

But, I've got an ap1 and I am fine inducing a bit more under steer.

Mine have been on the car in our uninsulated garage, as well as driven, through two Colorado winters. I haven't noticed any falloff in grip.
To be clear, the car only goes out on dry roads on nice days. I'm not that brave

Unless you're tracking the vehicle I'm sure it will not be noticeable, but yes there will be some falloff. Not as bad as a 200tw tire though (RE71R, RT660, RS4 etc)

I installed a set of 215/255 Firehawks today, and I had an alignment done. I took a short drive. My first impression is that these are perfect for what I do, (lively country back roads mostly). The car feels great. I'll check back after they have some miles on them.
