Default General Exclaim UHP

First off, I ordered these tires for a few reasons:

1. Cheap - $390 shipped from TR
2. Last a long time
3. It's my DD and I don't drive that aggressively anymore, they are quiet
4. It rains a lot here, and heard they're great in the wet
5. And lastly, I am running NSX wheels, 16x7 17x8.5. I wanted 215/55/16 and 255/40/17 tires. These were one of the few that came in those sizes.

I've read mixed reviews on this forum, but on other forums (E90post and M3forum in particular), they rave about them.

The main complaint is the soft sidewall. I read people are boosting up the pressure a bit to stiffen them up.

Mine are being mounted tomorrow (and I'll give reviews maybe in a month), but I was wondering what pressure I should start with. I've read everything from 32-40. Maybe start at 35psi? 36?
I want it comfortable and safe, but I also don't want to notice a bubbly sidewall in the turns. Any compromise would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

theyre great tires in general, the PSI rating should be on the tire, just follow that. i would just inflate it and re-check how the tires wear and adjust PSI accordingly. im pretty sure the people mounting ur tires will inflate them to the suggested PSI

oh i had these on my prelude, wet/dry still had great traction. i would pick those in a minute over these kumho's im running

no pun intended?

yeah im sure they'll be pumped up to the suggestion, just wondering if others experienced positive feedback and results when going a tad higher.

thanks! i know they aren't the best tire but i'm looking forward to them, especially since I am doing Espelir's and UK alignment at the same time.
My car came with crappy Sumitomo HTR's in 205/225, worn out.. so it's all over the place right now! (actually these tires are decent in the dry.. predictable and overall not bad... but in the wet, it's game over)

The "rating" on the tire is the MAXIMUM cold pressure. It is NOT a recommendation or suggestion and shouldn't be construed as such! The General UHP's max pressure is 51 psi, I wouldn't go anything like that high. The "correct" cold pressure for the S2k is 32psi if I'm not mistaken. Try 34 psi and see how you like that, adjust from there...

yes I would go with 32psi... a little OT but from what I've noticed about the General Exclaim is that the middle of the tread tends to wear out faster (with that said, I would be a little extra cautious about not over inflating the tires)

Did you get an entire set of 4 for $390?! Or is that just the front and/or rears?

I had them on my MINI and I am looking into a set after my Yoko's wear out. They had awesome grip in the rain from what I remember. Dry left a little to be desired, but when it rains you forget about that.

I have the same tires on my 19" rears, they are awesome, lasting much longer than my Kumho SPT's, ironically enough was checking my pressure today and is like 28 lbs .... oh boy need to get some air in them, don't drive it much so need to make sure I keep on top of it then. Thanks for posting this bc I was searching the same thing, since the tires only have the MAX psi on it.

All 4 for 390 shipped! Granted, $100 more for stems and mounting/balancing.

But $490 all said and done is fine by me.

I'll go with 32-34 and see what I think. Report back later. Thanks!

I'm gonna put them on the daily because they are the lightest tires around.
