Default good setup for handling/acceleration?

well well i got my set of rims on my car now and when i bought them all i was thinking about was looks. heres a link http://www.mrrwheels.com/gt1.html they are mrr gt1 wheel size 18x7.5 front (225/35 tires) 18x8.5 rear (255/35 tires) and these fit with no fender modification (im on stock ride height). im really into the look of enkei rpf1's and it seems everyone gets different sizes. i want lighter wheels for better acceleration and possibly better handling/braking. i want to get silver rpf1's and i was thinking 17x17.5 front and 17x8.5 in the back. i want to keep the same size tires as i do now but have a bigger sidewall (like 40 instead of 35) as i feel like there are more performance tires option with a bigger sidewall and winters coming to an end i want to start looking at good summer tires since ive been running all season since i drove an s2000. will the tires i said be fine with 225/40 front and 255/40 back no fender modification required ? (im not doing ANY so its gone if so) also info on what size sidewall would be most appropriate would be appreciated as i'm not that knowledgeable on tires.

RPF1's do not come in a high enough offset to fit completely stock fenders. They will fit perfectly fine with a fender roll and tab relocation which is barely a modification. If you are completely opposed to rolling the fenders a wheel you can run that fits is the TSW Nurburgring. The Nurburgring comes in S2000 friendly sizes and is not heavy at all.
