Hankook Ventus R-S3

RS-2's are nothing in the rain compared to StarSpecs. I had a set of RS-2s and tracked them a couple of times, and they were fine in the dry. When I needed rears I got StarSpecs and kept the RS-2s up front (still had ~6/32" on the fronts).
The understeer in the wet at Mont Tremblant with StarSpec rears and RS-2 fronts was absolutely not to be believed.
Not to do with heat cycles in the RS-2s, either. When I first got them mounted, doing half (or full) donuts in the parking lot in the wet at work was not a problem (wheee!) with new RS-2s. Tried it with StarSpecs and the amount of grip even while spinning/sliding was VERY apparent. The amount of drive and cornering grip the tires developed on wet pavement was just phenomenal, to the extent that I would run out of room before getting ~1/4 of the way around. Way way way more wet grip than the RS2s.
Dunno about the RS-3s, but if they're not a HUGE improvement over the RS-2s in terms of wet grip, I personally wouldn't be interested (I use my street tires as rains at the track).

those of you that like the rs3...
can you compare them to the rs2...because i really did not like the rs2.
sidewall was way too soft and when it got hot, they slide around unpredictably.

i have these in 255/40/17 setting in my room right now. I'm mounting them tomarrow when my 949's come in. From my understanding they are a good autocross tire but they dont last long.

really? how long is "forever" 100+ 45 second autocross runs and 10,000+ street miles? Or is it one or the other?

200+ autox runs and prob 5-10k street miles should be possible.
