Default Hankook Ventus V12

I am in need of new tires for my ap1. I have stock wheels and I plan on getting a set of hankook ventus v12's. I was reading a thread that said if you were not planning on getting oem tires, then you should get 245's in the rear. I called tire rack but all they have are race tires in the 245/45/16 size. Should I just stick with the 225's in the rear?

Had them on my S. They were ok. Wore pretty quick. Grip was so so, but the price was good. 245/40/17 for the rears.

I switched them to the Sumitomo HTR3's. Much happier with those. And made in Japan!

Yes, oem 225/50-16 size is fine. Tire make/model selection is WAY more important than 225/50 vs. 245/45, and there is a very good selection in 225/50-16, next to nothing in 245/45-16. Make sure you select the best specific model of tire for your wants/needs usage.

I used to run 245s in the rear but stopped because the difference is minimal. The comment about 245s is related directly to the contact patch size of OEM vs non-OEM 225s.

I am running the V12s currently. Cant comment on wear because I've only had them one season. Grip is OK, but not as good as tires I've had in the past. Got them at America's Tire with rebates for $285 mounted and balanced.Price was my main consideration at the time.
