hey guys sorry for the post but I'm looking for a comfortable tire.. The best roads out here aren't really paved. Any recommendations?

2. Thoughts on a taller tire size? (So I can drive up my driveway without scraping)

I run 235/45-17 up front with 245/45-17 out back on my stock '06. No mods to fenders, doesn't rub.

Taller tire size can and will throw off your speedo. It can also have an effect on the handling of the car due to the added sidewall. Ride height should not be adjusted with tire size.

 

I have Hankook Evo2 and I really like them for comfort. Would probably go with them again once they wear out.

 

If you run a wider tire then you will gain a little bit of height. I went to a 225 front and 255 rear contiextreme and the sidewall is a good bit taller than the 215-245s I was running. I noticed I scrap speed bumps a lot less. Plus with the taller sidewall, that will give the tire more flex, which will = a softer ride

 

Consider a 16 inch rim if you can, the extra sidewall on the tires will be more comfy, I've got an ap1 with 16's, and I love my Bridgestone RE-11a's , they were out of production a while back but I found a new supply of them which was a pleasant surprise. I love the combination of tires and rim size.

 

With no information as to what car or wheels you have we can only guess at tires...

Comfortable tires on a S2000 are an oxymoron. The car demands rigid sidewalls if you want it to handle well. Honda went to 17" wheels in 2004 to get a lower profile tire.

Depending on what car you have you can fit alternate OEM springs, etc. to the car. The 2006 setup may be the most "comfortable" based on spring rates. The 2000 setup probably the worst (for "comfort").

The Honda engineers went to a lot of trouble to optimize the handling of this car -- including the OEM tires.

I would just go with 225/255 if you are on AP2 rims. If you by chance are on the OEM RE050 tires just about every other replacement tire is going to be softer.
