I do have to chuckle at @A.O. 's enthusiasm - he made 50% more posts in less than 1 year of S2k ownership than I have in 12.

Tires do make some difference but they will not fundamentally change the feel of the car. New tires usually feel great all around (I've had the old Conti DW, multiple sets of Indy 500s and now the Potenza Sport) and more sidewall too (tried AP1 sizes for a few years). However, none of those tires could compare to the effect of replacing the leaking OEM shocks.

@A.O. made a valiant attempt to civilize his S2000 and put hours and dollars into sound proofing/deadening as much as possible. And probably other changes. Eventually came to the realization the car just wasn't for him or maybe it was his wife. Same same.

The Reverend Jonathan Swift (1801) is widely credited with coining the phrase “you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.”
