Default Help me decide

im on stock ap1 rims and tires sizes right now. i want to upgrade to better/wider tires. i really like the advan rz and pretty decided i was going with a staggered set up 17x8 front and 17x9 rear both +45 offset on 225/255s. advan just came out with the rz ii in +63. now i cannot decide if i want to run them with a 255 square setup. the car will mostly be street driven but 2-4 autocross and 1-2 track days a year. i don't really want to buy two sets of rims. i've read so many threads of staggered vs non staggered and still cannot decide. i am going to roll the fenders and getting ohlins dfv. so about an inch lowered. i haven't seen any threads about 255 squared setup on the street. what would suit my needs more?

square > staggered. Will never go back. The ability to rotate is nice, just get a larger front bar. I'm running +62 wheels and with a 255 tire and lowered 2" I needed to only roll my fender tabs and didn't have to touch the fender itself front or rear. It's so much grip

It is safe to say nearly everyone with 17x9 +45 rpf1's drives their car on the street as well as the track. It is very common. I currently run a 17x9 +43 in front and the only real difference in normal street driving is the steering is a bit heavier. If you have an AP1 you can either get a larger front bar or smaller rear one (like an Ap2 oem rear sway bar). That will even out the suspension since they ap1 is more biased to oversteer and adding more tire in front compounds that.

thanks guys. i've going with 17x9 +45 advan rz's with 255 re71r's. i will roll the fenders, relocate the tab, and trim fender liners. most people say to run -2 or -2.5 camber to get them to fit nicely. will i need anything to get that amount of negative camber or will i be able to get it being dropped about an inch? ill go with the moddiction sway bar and see how i like it. if there is too much over steer ill get the miata bar in the rear.

You don't need anything to get that camber from the OEM adjustment.

^How much you can get depends on ride height. I have -2.5 in front and -3.4 in the rear.

Caster amount has an influence on your static camber adjustment throw as well I do believe. I'm maxed camber at -2.5 with 13" fender to hub ride height (essentially 1 finger gap) and 6.8 caster. The rear is the opposite, im maxed positive to get the same -2.5 camber. So there is far more negative camber influence in the rear vs front.
