To make a long story short I have fought getting an undamaged set of 18" rims since last July. The manufacturer is taking the 2nd set of rims back and will see if it is possible for them to make a set that is within specs.

At that time I was looking for the ultimate Street/Track combo so I wanted as light as possible and the best rubber. I got it, but at a price.

If they just refund my money, and all my expenses as they are suggesting at the moment, my thought is maybe to instead use the Tiretail and just go ahead and get a dedicated set of racing rubber in 16" or 17".

BUT I want the lightest rim available!!! That is why I figured I might drop all the way back down to 16".

Since they will be dedicated track rims they need to be inexpensive. They do not have to be the prettiest rim around. Has anyone found such an animal?

Are more R rubber tire sizes available in the 16" or 17" sizes?

I will just do a little creative powdercoating on the stock rims and put them back on with S03s or something like that for the street.

Just a data point for those of you considereing WIDE tires. I was running the BMW spec S02s which are 10.2" wide on 9.5" rims with a 63 offset and my car is stock height.

They rubbed slightly when I hit bumps. It could have been corrected with a little hammer work on the bolts that attach the fender linings OR a 65 offset would have cleared everything.

It did not appear that you would need to roll the fender unless you were dropping the car quite a bit.

I never got to install the Porsche Spec S02s that are 9.2" wide on an 8.5" wide rim and 63 offset to see how they fit. This last time a forklift had a run in with my front rim box.
