Default I would like to hear from people that went from

I cannot decide if 18's will compromise the ride too much for me. I live in LA and the roads arn't that smooth in most places anyway and the ride is firm right now, i am worried about stepping up to 18's.

So i would like to hear your thoughts and opinions on your 18's and if you went back to 17's after that, what were the reasons for doing so?

The more info provide the (obviously) more helpful it will be for me!

Thanks in advance,

Joshua.

I went with 17's on my s2000. But I had 18's on my last car (WRX).
I decided to go with 17" for the following reasons:
1) I wanted a more JDM look.
2) There seem to be more tire choices in 17 vs. 18, especially for track tires.
3) There seem to be less fitment/rubbing issues with 17s.
4) The 2" jump was a little too much for me on the WRX. I had some bumpsteer issues due to the bigger tires and lowering. And let's face it, you MUST lower the car if you put bigger wheels on it!
5) I think 18's look a little better, but I do a lot of LA freeway driving, so I think the 17's work better for me.

Some guys are running 19's too.

Everybody's different. I am particularly picky about ride quality and noise (I ain't getting any younger!). The jump from 16 to 17 had virtually no effect on ride on ride quality for me. The tires I have now (Toyo T1-S vs. OEM SO-2) are definitely a step down though.

I would try to drive or get rides in peoples cars with different setups.

I am in the market for new wheels and am having a tough time deciding which way to go aswell.. 18" wheels really do look good on this car. However the weight associated with 18's as well as the price and selection of tires are my main deterrents. I can't justify putting on bigger wheels for the bling factor. I bought the car because I am a driving purest and want my car to preform to the best of it's abilities. One question though talking performance will 18' 19lbs wheels VS 17' 14lbs am I going to see a difference?

No thread jacking, but your question is blatently obvious: of course there will be a difference between those weights - that is a total of 20lbs. I don't think you can even get wheels in 17" that weigh that little.

Went from stock 16s to 18s. Havent regretted it. Car is much more stable, more planted in the corner, invincible in the rain (to a point), MUCH smoother ride, much better looking....love every minute of em!

Sure you can, the CE28N's I have weigh 12.7 lbs in the front and 13.7 lbs in the rear.

I'd go 17" from a performance aspect. 18" if you're all about looks. but with 18" wheels the S2000 really needs a bit of a drop to look right.

That's why I purchased RGII's in 17"
