but I'm really lost here. I've heard the OE 225/50 16s are going to be discontinued. And even though I've read all the postings that the 245/45/16s are the way to go, I'm wondering if there is a less expensive way for those of us who commute during the week and race around on weekends. What is your opinion on Falken or some of these other brands?

The OE tires are not going to be discontinued. Who ever told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. I have the tire in stock. Just give me a call ant I can get them on the way.
If you are only changing the rear tires it is best to match the front and rear tires on the car.

That's interesting that you say the front and rears should match because the car came stock with 205/55 16s on the front. If the stock 225/50s are available for the rear, why not just replace those with same?
