Jim - Toyo FZ4 vs Yoko ES 100?

My tire guy poopooed the Yokohamas and is pushing the Toyo Proxes FZ4 instead. I want a good tire, on a budget.
Who doesn't?
I am into the aesthetics of the tread patterns - so I am already turned off by the FZ4.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I am ordering later friday.
Thanx,
Hockey
By the way, price is working out to just under $100 per tire.

I'm sure Jim will answer here, but I'll leave a quick note. It's not really fair to expect a retailer to give unbiased information regarding the comparison between a product he sells and one he doesn't for two primary reasons. First he probably doesn't have first hand experience in how the competing product performs and second, he has a financial incentive to recommend the product he does carry. I'm not trying to call into question Jim's credibility, on the contrary I have bought several sets of tires through him and his professionalism and service has been excellent. I'm just saying the last time I checked Tirereack doesn't carry Toyo - so they are not going to have the extensive tests and user database for those tires like they will a Michelin, Bridgestone, Dunlop, and others. The flip side is that it would be interesting to know the reasoning behind your tire guy recommending the Toyo. I'm not that familiar with the tire, but I do see it is an all season tire. I would think a more comparable tire to the Yoko ES100 would be the Toyo T1-S, although at a higher price point. I think short of the new Yoko or a Kuhmo it is going to be hard to get a respectable summer performance tire under $100 each. Enough of my rambling.

cbj,
You are right - Tirerack does not carry Toyo, which makes it difficult to compare prices.
I am hoping he has some experience with them, or has heard from others. I think he's the kind of guy who's professionalism will supercede his need for greed.
I'm leaning toward the Yoko anyway, but I don't want Jim to know that!

For what it is worth, I have a set of Toyo T1-S that I am about to replace with Yoko ES-100's. I have liked the Toyo's, but I don't think they are worth the price. Especially, since they didn't last any longer than the S02's.

You guys are right. I have not driven the Toyo tire so I would have no idea. The ES100 is exactly what you said you were looking for. A good performance tire with excellent wet traction, good tread life and a cool looking tread design.
If I can help let me know.
Thank you

Thanx guys,
I'm gonna go with my gut and make him order up the Yokos.
I'm a sucker for tread patterns!
If he balks, I'm coming up to see you, Jim.
