What I have found is when new tires are installed, is to find a place and safely spin a few "S" turns, weave back and forth and slow speed low power donuts. This will remove most of the release compound from the tire tread, and "scuff" in the tire, and make it safer to drive. Like most of the max and extreme performance tires we use, they need time to warm up for max grip. My S0-2's when warmed up, feel like im on rails.

Longevity and noise are two issues I will be watching closely. My S02s were noisy and I developed some irritating rotational-rythmic noise at around 35 MPH with both sets. I wonder if it has to do with not running the car all winter and the tires "falt spotting," but I digress.

As to the greasy feel of new tires, Tire Rack provides the following info:

"Tires are comprised of many layers of rubber, steel and fabric. Due to these different components, your new tires require a break-in period to ensure that they deliver their normal ride quality and maximum performance. As tires are cured, a release lubricant is applied to prevent them from sticking in their mold. Some of the lubricant stays on the surface of your tires, reducing traction until it is worn away. Five hundred miles of easy acceleration, cornering and braking will allow the mold release lubricant to wear off, allowing the other tire components to begin working together. It is also important to note that your old tires probably had very little tread depth remaining when you felt it was time to replace them. As any autocrosser or racer who has tread rubber shaved off of his tires will tell you, low tread depth tires respond quicker."Don't be surprised if your new tires are a little slower to respond (even if you use the exact same tire as before). Their new, full depth brings with it a little more tread squirm until they wear down."

I have the UK alignment, so I was worried about this. I may have them return the settings to US stock.

I did very close to the UK alignment with my RE050APP tires. I got just under 6K mi on them. With an aggressive alignment and sort sticky tires, you have to pay to play!

I have a bit of a more aggressive alignment than the euro alignment and i have the re-01R's 225/255 love them they give great fedback like the S02's only these have a much higher grip level. They are very predictable and also are very linear at the traction limit. Love em....This is not a Daily Driver car. awsome tires... if you like the s02's you will love these...
