Default Kuhmo Ecsta MX? or other tires?

Please post in here if you have used these tires. Also, what others would you recommend for a "cheap" good tire for the s2k.

I'm looking to get 225/45/17 and 245/40/17.

Many people have bad reviews of the Kumho MX, but they can be had for a great price though!!

You may want to check out the Sumitomo HTR Z III, great tire for the price.

I've had two sets of the Sumitumo HRZ II not the newer III. I didn't get the life I wanted out of them but that could be due to alignment. Decent tire for the money and OK ride.

I've had two sets of the Kumho MX. Love these! I get more miles out of them and they grip better. When showing wear they do get noisy. Better tire for the money.

Now you need to make a decision on what you are wanting out of a tire. I will keep running the Kumho for street but my next set for the track will be different. I don't even know what I will do there yet.

Hope this helps. There are still a few more good tires available for the S that will not break the bank.

I track my car, but do it rarely. I do a lot of canyon runs though, and it's in fairly warm/hot weather.

What about the Yokohama S-Drives?

I would go with the RT615s. The S-drives are pretty good too, but they won't grip like the MX or the 615s.

Hankook Ventus RS2 from the Tirerack. $2 more for the set vs. the Kumhos. I like them and they seem to get more favorable opinions on the boards.

this was another tire that I was looking at.....the reason I mentioned the S-drive is because they got the highest rating in their category. Another thing to mention is that monsoon season is coming up, how do the MXs perform in the wet? or in cold conditions?

I have the RS2's and love them!

Today though i noticed my fronts might need replacing soon and I found them for 155 a tire! So....I was looking around and found the Falken Azenis (RT615's) to be a little cheaper with good reviews...

I'm on Hankook RS2's. Great tires for the $$$.

225/45 front w/ 245/40 rears is going to have your front tires looking bigger than the rears, btw. I'd go 215/45 fronts with 245/40 rears, or 215/45s with 255/40s, or 225/45s with 255/40s.

The HTRZ III are an amazing tire. I love them soo much more than my MX's They last a long time and have great traction. I did the dragon on them and I autocross on them.
